Lincoln County residents have a top-rated bank in their midst.

That would be Nevada Bank & Trust, located in Caliente. BauerFinancial, Inc., a national bank rating and research firm gave the bank its highest rating (5 Stars) in October because of its ?impressive capital levels,? according to the bank’s website, and ?enviable loan portfolio with negligible levels of delinquent loans.?

The bank was created by a group of Caliente businessmen led by Wes Holt. They opened the first office in Caliente on June 21, 1978 and have since opened offices in Ely, Elko, and Mesquite.

The bank has worked hard to serve the interest of local residents, providing services that one would expect from a large, national bank. These include personal and business savings and checking accounts, money market accounts, IRAs, as well as consumer, residential real estate, and commercial loans. Yet the bank has maintained a small, hometown feel, making banking simple and comfortable for its customers.

The Lincoln County operations, managed by Elisha Baker, handles over 1,600 accounts and employs 15 people – seven at the branch and eight in the adjacent office. The bank is highly involved in community efforts, supporting schools, athletics, clubs, and community events. The bank also gives away two scholarships annually at Lincoln County High School.
