The Lincoln County High School wrestling team just completed regionals in Laughlin in preparation for state duals being held this weekend in Las Vegas.
Five out of six team members traveled, with Taylor Olson unable to compete because of an injury suffered at the end of her regular season.
Two team members were seeded first in the southern division going into Laughlin. For members will go on to state competition – Derek Sampson, Jacob Ahlstrom, Damiano Vellajos and Danny Olson (1st place).
Coach Mason Stackhouse encourages the team to ?be honest, and give back to the community, with a fundraiser every year to instill service.?
Work ethic is also a secret to success. ?Good kids to work with and hard workers,? Stackhouse said.
?You have to watch and understand the sport,? Stackhouse said. ?It is the hardest sport to participate in because you have to be in better shape to be in wrestling. By the end of the season, you get the best and most dedicated team.?
The public is encouraged to come support the wrestlers to see these young athletes compete in the sport they truly enjoy.
Pahranagat Valley High School will be well-represented at the state championships as well, with Clayton Higbee, Brandon Carter, Jeffrey Jones (1st place), Jeremy Minick (1st place), and Sergio Linares (1st place) competing.
