The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development arm invested $597,830 in Lincoln County during fiscal year 2012.

This is according to Kelly Clark, Special Projects Coordinator and Public Affairs Specialist for USDA Rural Development in Carson City.

Most of the funds were spent on housing. ?$300,590 went to three single family home loans. ?These loans are privately funded by local banks but guaranteed by the USDA. ?$222,240 was used for rental assistance support for low income and elderly citizens.

Additionally, $75,000 went for an aerial fire truck for the Panaca Fire Protection District. ?”Of the $75,000 for the fire truck, $39,400 was in the form of a grant, and $35,600 was in the form of a low interest direct loan,” according to Clark.
