Where did January go?  Time marches on in Lincoln County.  Let’s see what this week will bring.

Weather

Punxsutawney Phill predicted an early spring this year, and if the last few days are any indication, the little rodent may be on to something.  However, we may have not quite seen the last of Old Man Winter.

Pioche will be flirting with the 50 degree mark for much of the week.  However, The Weather Channel predicts temperatures will drop into the 30s on Friday and Saturday, with a chance of snow.

Caliente and Panaca should expect temps to be in the high 50s through Thursday.  They should then drop to the 40s on Friday and Saturday with a chance of rain/snow.

In the Pahranagat Valley, expect temps to stay in the low 60s through Thursday, dropping into the 40s on Friday, with a chance of rain, and clearing up by Sunday.

Schools

Pahranagat Valley High School recently completed intercession.  Students took a variety of courses, including dance, drama, art, broadcasting, and prospecting.  Students performed their new found talents in plays, basketball game halftimes, and on KQLN radio in Alamo.

It is state tournament time for our wrestlers.  Both LCHS and PVHS wrestling teams will be in Reno on Friday and Saturday at the Reno Livestock Events Center.  Best of luck to all of our wrestlers.

It is the final week of the regular season for our high school basketball teams.  Tuesday, LCHS basketball teams will be at White Pine.  Games start at 5 p.m.  PVHS varsity basketball teams will be at Adelson, starting at 6 p.m.

On Friday, LCHS basketball will play at Needles, starting at 3 p.m.  PVHS basketball will host Round Mountain starting at 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, LCHS basketball teams will be in Laughlin, with play starting at noon.
