Approval was given by the Board of County Commissioners to a recommendation by Sunrise Engineering for construction of a prefabricated ADA accessible restroom facility at Echo Canyon Campground.

Approval was also given for a proposal from Coverworx for shade structure also at Echo Canyon for $106,538.

County Building Director Cory Lytle said the SNPLMA grant that is funding the replacement is for the group use area up on the eastern side of the dam, up on the higher bench, not the facilities at the state park campgrounds, or the boat launching area. “It’s county property up in that area. The plan is to expand the park, improve the access road, and add about 20 full RV hookups and replace the restrooms and showers.”

County Grant Administrator Elaine Zimmerman said three companies submitted bids for the restroom facilities ranging from $231,871 to $176,654.

Commissioner Kevin Phillips abstained, as his son works for Sunrise Engineering.
