Firefighters are engaging the Eight Mile Fire, burning in the South Pahroc Wilderness, about eight miles east of Alamo that is around 1,000 acres as of Tuesday afternoon. No structures are threatened.

The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain, consuming pinion-juniper, brush and cheatgrass.

Firefighters are implementing a confinement strategy, using all available resources to protect life and property, and resources.

The lightning-ignited fire was reported at about 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 1.

The Bureau of Land Management Ely District is being assisted by the Lincoln County Fire Protection District and local contracted resources.
