Lincoln County’s 11-12 year old boys Little League All Star team took fourth place in the 8-team, double-elimination District III tournament in Winnemucca June 30 – July 5.

The Lincoln team lost their first game to High Desert (Fernley) 7-2 on June 30. They routed White Pine (Ely) 19-0 on July 1.

On July 2, they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and went to a 9-2 win over Silverada (Dayton).  The game was delayed for more than 2½ hours due to the threat of lightning, later resuming and finishing close to midnight.

Lincoln had to face Elko on July 3 and lost 10-0.

The Lincoln team consisted of Stockton Maxwell, Preston Higbee, Alex Vincent, Kamdon Lewis, Derek Ottley, Noah Smith, Mason Thornock, Brendon Stewart, McKinley O’Connor, and Braiden McBride. Team manager was Eric Bernal and coaches were Ed Vincent, Donnie Lloyd, and Garry McBride.

Elko eventually won the District III tournament and now advances to the Nevada State tournament in Las Vegas for a chance to advance to the Little League Western Regionals in San Bernardino, Calif. Aug. 2-10. The annual Little League World Series is in Williamsport, Pa. Aug. 15-25.
