Caliente donates lights to ball park
The City of Caliente has offered to donate their lights leftover from their ballpark to Panaca, for the creation of a softball field.

Town Hall meeting for Caliente
Mayor Stana Hurlburt has planned for the first Town Hall meeting for Caliente to be at the Caliente Olson Senior Center, July 30 at 6 p.m.

Frehner files OML violation
Dylan Frehner informed the City of Caliente at the July 18 meeting that he has filed an Open Meeting Law violation for the Caliente City Council’s meeting on June 20. Frehner said contracts for specific employees were not made available in a timely fashion, and has taken the issue to the Attorney General.

Community food drop date changed
Caliente Food Drop has been moved from Friday, July 26, to Monday, July 29, and will be held in front of Gottfredson’s at 11 a.m. Lincoln County RSVP is inviting everyone to see our new office and have refreshments on Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. The new office is located at 195 Clover St., Caliente. Since the passing away of Janice Ayres, there is a new Program Director CEO, Susan Haas, and she will be here to introduce herself and the programs she will represent at the Open House. BLM Land Sale Raises $15,800
The Bureau of Land Management Ely District, Schell Field Office held a public auction on Wednesday, July 10, selling three parcels of agency-administered public lands totaling approximately 26.39 acres to Lee Pearson, of Lincoln County, for $15,800. Pearson was the lone bidder.

The parcels, located in Camp Valley approximately 35 miles northeast of Pioche, are adjacent to one parcel of private land and were sold as a single unit through a modified competitive sale.  Pearson, the owner of the private parcel, was identified as the designated bidder and was authorized to meet the high bid.

The Nevada State General Education Fund will receive 5 percent of the sales proceeds and Lincoln County will receive 10 percent. The BLM will receive 85 percent for wilderness planning and natural resource protection, and recreation and other opportunities in Lincoln County.

Fire Chief clarifies patrol
Fire District Chief Rick Stever wants to clarify for the record that there are no plans for boat patrolling on Eagle Valley Reservoir. The idea was mentioned as a possibility, but there are no plans for such patrolling.
