County Commissioners gave consent to the appointment of City of Caliente Mayor Stana Hurlburt to the Lincoln County Regional Transportation Commission to replace former mayor Ashley Moore.
Budget Transfers Made
A list of recent budget transfers from Federal In Lieu Tax Special Revenue Funds was by approved by the Board of County Commissioners. $80,000 to the Solid Waste Management Fund, $7,000 to the Flood Control Fund, $14,674 to the Planning Fund, and $20,000 to Senior Nutrition.
City approves day care
At the Aug. 15 Caliente City Council meeting, the council approved a conditional use permit for Danielle Hansen to have a daycare service on 40 Main St. in Caliente. The daycare will be able to hold 15 to 20 children.
Faith Rollins was named Tiny Princess of the 2013 Lincoln County Fair & Rodeo.
Extra City workers approved
The City of Caliente City Council approved the emergent, critical need of hiring an assistant utility clerk to help cover vacancies in the City Hall during employees? medical leave and vacation time. Tara West was selected for the position. Councilmember Cardinal wasn?t certain if they needed the hire, and voted ?no?. Mayor Stana Hurlburt and Councilmen Cody Christensen, Steve Rowe and Vic Jones voted in favor of the hire.
The seasonal park positions were extended 500 total hours for their two temporary employees. Money set aside for pool lifeguards this summer was never used, and can be transferred for the salaries. City Utility Foreman Jerry Carter said that he has a half-page list of things to do to winterize the park and pool and finish the summer season, but they won?t use all the hours if they don?t have to. The council voted unanimously to approve the extension of the hours.
