The Labor Day festivities are upon us again in Pioche for their annual celebration. As in previous years, the Lincoln County Sheriff?s Department would like to remind everyone to have a fun time attending the events, and remind everyone, that if you drink, don?t drive. Always get a designated driver, even if you have only a couple of drinks.
A few facts to remind you have important this advice is:
? Every day in the U.S., drunk drivers cause about 1,400 injuries and nearly 30 deaths.
? In the U.S., over 10,000 deaths occur every year from drunk driving.
? The Labor Day weekend is the deadliest weekend of the year in the U.S.
Sheriff Kerry Lee also reminds people to keep your animals, dogs, cats, livestock locked in or penned in during the fireworks display in Pioche set for Sunday night. ?Every year we have multiple calls on dogs that have run away, and can?t be found,? he said.
Be aware that law enforcement officers throughout the County will be conducting DUI saturation patrols during the weekend, Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.
These stepped up patrols are funded in part by the Nevada Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.
