The Lincoln County Lynx overpowered the Bobcats of White Pine County High School in Panaca on Friday, Sept. 13, for a Division III Southern League game, winning 44-12. While all of the other teams from White Pine High School were shifted into the Division III Northern League, the football team was aligned with the Southern League.

Lynx junior running back Christian Florence opened the scoring in the first quarter with 10:42 remaining with a 15-yard rush followed up by a two-point conversion. The Lynx held the Bobcats scoreless in the first quarter but Florence romped for 10 yards to his second touchdown of the quarter followed by a PAT kick by Mark Olson at the 3:30 mark.

Florence continued to rush for a career best performance in the second quarter and rushed for an additional two touchdowns in the second, the first being a six-yard run, followed by a 24-yard rush and a second Mark Olson kick. White Pine junior wideout Bobby Marich kept the Bobcats from being shut out in the first half when he caught a 37-yard pass from Bobcat quarterback Levi Winsryg with less than a minute to play in the first half. The Lynx took a 28-6 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the second half, Lynx quarterback Derek Schumway took it into the endzone on a 12-yard quarterback keeper followed by a two-point conversion by Preston Robbins to increase the Lynx lead to 30. With less than two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Bobcat running back Jacob Baer caught a 23-yard toss from Winsryg for a score, adding six to the White Pine total. Lincoln running back William Culverwell closed out the scoring for the game in the fourth quarter with a 14-yard run and two-point conversion.

During the 44-12 rout, Florence averaged 12 yards per carry, rushing for 193 yards and four TDs on 16 attempts. Preston Robbins contributed 20 rushes for a respectable 107 yards and a two-point conversion. The win takes the Lynx overall record to 1-2 and a conference record of 1-1. Next up Lincoln will travel to The Meadows School on Friday, Sept. 20, to play the 2-1 Mustangs.
