A Caliente man, 40-year-old Richard ?Richie? Bywater, was killed in an ATV accident in Clover Canyon Sept. 16.

According to Sheriff Kerry Lee, Bywater was riding a four-wheeler on the Dillman Ranch on Clover Canyon Road, a little past the Caliente Youth Center, and somehow lost control and the vehicle overturned pinning him underneath.

Caliente EMS and Fire department personnel along with Sheriff?s deputies and Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene about 3:30 p.m. and Bywater was pronounced dead at the scene by the deputy coroner.

Lee said another ranch employee reported Bywater had failed to arrive at a specified time at a predetermined location on the ranch and went back to look for him and found the accident.

Bywater leaves behind a wife and two children in Caliente.
