Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee reports a fatal traffic accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 23 on highway 318 at the Crystal Springs junction.
He said the unidentified single occupant of a southbound 2007 Chevy pickup truck apparently missed the slight turn at Crystal Springs where the road connects with highway 375, overturned and caught fire, trapping the person inside.
Lee said the Pahranagat Valley Volunteer Fire and Hiko Volunteer Fire, along with Pahranagat Valley EMS and ambulance were dispatched to the scene along with Nevada Highway Patrol, Sheriff?s deputies, and NDOT.
The Hiko squad reported the vehicle was fully involved when they arrived. Other motorists had also apparently stopped to assist, but were unable. A small brush fire was started surrounding the vehicle.
Lee said the body, thought to be a male, was taken to the coroner?s office in Las Vegas for autopsy and possible identification and notification of next of kin.
Cause of the accident is under investigation. The NHP Fatal team from Las Vegas also was sent to conduct an investigation. Skid marks were found at the scene.
On Saturday, 10-19-13 we came across an accident on the Eagle Valley road from Pioche involving a turck pulling a large trailer and a boat. Have there been any reports posted as to what had happened?
