Thomas Docktor
Thomas ?Tom? Docktor, 53, Jamestown, N.D. passed away Friday, Dec. 27 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Thomas Docktor was born Sept. 11, 1960 in Jamestown, N.D. to Francis and Alvina (Burkle) Docktor. He grew up working on the family farm with his brothers Idele, Jim and Len. Tom started working at Mayer Truckline in 1991. Tom loved his job and enjoyed his co-workers. Mayer Truckline was his home away from home. In 1997, Tom married Shannon Stutts. They continue to make their home on the family farm until Tom?s passing. In 2009, they welcomed a daughter, Emily, into their family. Tom was a very proud father and you rarely saw him without Emily. He spent a lot of time with Emily, showing her the ?important? things every farm kid should know, from taking care of her pets, to working hard and the correct way to drive his tractor. Tom enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved ice fishing, hunting and his dogs. He was happiest during hay season. There was nothing as good as the smell of fresh hay in the sunshine.
Tom is survived by his wife, Shannon, Jamestown; daughter, Emily Docktor, Jamestown; two sons, Brad and Nick (Stacy) Docktor, Ypsilanti; one grandson, Matthew Docktor, Ypsilanti; three brothers, Idele Burkle, Jamestown, Jim (Joyce) Docktor, Alamo, Nev., Len (Janet) Docktor, Tonopah, Nev. and many nieces and nephews.
