Pahranagat Valley and Lincoln County wrestling teams opened the new year participating at the Panther Invitational tournament in Alamo Jan. 10.
Bishop Gorman won the tourney with eight men in the championship matches, six winners, as they earned 233.5 points for top honors in the 12-team tournament. Lincoln County was fourth with 117.5 points, Pahranagat Valley was seventh with 50 points.
Lincoln’s Zach Rowe won the 106-pound division. Four other Lincoln wrestlers took second place: D. Mathews (113), Jesse Mathews (120), Danny Olson (132), and Will Culverwell (138).
Alamo’s Jeremy Minick placed first at 132, and Mateo Linares second at 195.
Gorman’s Sean Randles (126) and Minick both were 4-0 in the tournament.
Pahranagat coach Brad Loveday said it was a good tournament. “No major injuries and everybody was happy when they left, it was a good day.”
Up Next for Pahranagat is the Eldorado Gold tournament at Eldorado High in Las Vegas this Friday and Saturday. Lincoln County participates in the Tiger Tournament at Milford, Utah Jan. 18.
