Charging host fees for landfill users is something Commissioner Adam Katschke thinks Lincoln County ought to do more of. ?I feel we ought to have all the landfills on the same page.?

Discussion among the Commissioners ranged from drafting a resolution to introducing an ordinance to charge host fees for landfill located in the county pursuant to Title 10, Chapter 4 of the Lincoln County Code.

Even though Commissioners want to charge host fees, it was felt they needed to first develop some rate tiers for Class I, Class II, and Class III materials brought into landfills, as well as talk with Mesquite Mayor Mark Wier.

Katschke said it needs to be decided first what kinds of rate fees there will be, and what is a normal amount to charge. He felt the fees should most apply to residential garbage, which is Class I.
