The Lincoln County Water District is wanting to move its office from the basement of the County Courthouse in Pioche to new space in the building that was the old Panaca Elementary School in Panaca.
General Manager Wade Poulsen said during an interview he wants to make the move, because the water district is a subdivision of the state of Nevada, not a subdivision of the County, even though the five members of the Board of County Commissioners are also the Water District Board of Trustees. ?That?s the only tie to the County,? Poulsen said.
?By moving to Panaca,? he added, ?I think you?ll start to see the separation that the water district needs from the County. We are a separate entity.?
In the water district meeting Feb. 19, it was decided to ask the County Commission to create and adopt a resolution granting a 10-year lease agreement in the amount of $80,000 with the water district. When Commissioners adopt the resolution, then the lease can go into effect.
