The Alamo satellite branch of the Meadow Valley Pharmacy is set to open June 2. Owner Dr. Adam Katschke said they have received all the proper clearances and licenses from the various state boards and agencies to open the pharmacy.
Latisha Prince will be the pharmacy technician in charge of the Alamo store. The building at 414 Broadway Street will have a full-scale pharmacy with over the counter service and a small area of bottled vitamins, health and beauty supplies, etc.
Katschke said customers can get their prescriptions filled on site and not have to go to the pharmacy in Caliente or have it mailed to them, or need to pick them up at the Alamo clinic, as is done now. ?Just call the pharmacy there and they will take care of it,? he said. ?They expect to have a fully stocked pharmacy. But if a medicine does have to be special ordered, Tisha can make the order and have it in the store by the next day.?
Katschke said he is opening his satellite pharmacy, ?because I believe the people of Alamo (and the Pahranagat Valley), need a pharmacy. I think it will be good, we?ll have good community support, we?ll be there to support the community also and make health care a little more simple in Alamo.?
He said either he or one of the other licensed pharmacists will be at the Alamo store at least once a month, or maybe more often. Immunizations will also be given there twice a month.?
Another feature Katschke is adding in the Alamo store is a webcam video link directly with the Meadow Valley Pharmacy. He explained, ?We have iPads at the store and they connect directly with pharmacists at the Caliente store. This will meet the state requirements of counseling patients and being accessible for people who have questions for our pharmacist. We have two iPads that can be used and we have direct lines to each of them. We?re excited to get open and get started.?
Store hours will be 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, closed on specific holidays. The phone number at the pharmacy will be 775-725-3515, fax 3518.
