With the end of school celebrations and lifeguards hired, the public pools of the county are open for swimming business.

With the end of school celebrations and lifeguards hired, the public pools of the county are open for swimming business.

For Caliente, free swimming was offered for Homecoming. Lifeguards were put to the test, as they saved three tired swimmers over the weekend. Caliente have lessons starting June 23. Normal pool hours will be Monday through Saturday, Noon to 6 p.m.

For Pioche, Berean Baptist kicked off the season hosting a free swim day June 2, that Rita Cheeney from Pioche Public Utilities said went well. Pool hours are offered for different groups. The Pioche pool will also be open Monday through Saturday. From 9 to 10 a.m., adult swim is offered. From 10 to 11 a.m., adults and family swim is offered. The pool will close for lunch 11 a.m. to Noon. From Noon to 5 p.m. is open swim for all ages. Pioche offers night swims on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Temperatures have been fickle in the county and the pools are seeing some cooler days for the last week and a half, but is still open for swimmer’s enjoyment.
