County Commissioners had intended to address a request from Carol White regarding termination of the contract with Ashley Hall and Associates for non-performance at the Oct. 20 meeting.

However, when the item was opened on the regular meeting agenda, Vaughn Higbee of Alamo, representing Ashley Hall, asked for a delay in the discussion until their lawyers could be present, saying they had not been properly notified, and requested the item be rescheduled for a later date.

Some of the Commissioners said they were still interested in hearing what Ms. White had to say, but Paul Mathews said it was a legal issue and they should wait. District Attorney Daniel Hooge agreed, stating the board would “have a hard time taking any action right now,” although they could discuss the matter.

Higbee said he would answer no questions that Ms. White might have until their lawyers could attend.

Commissioners voted 3-2 to reschedule the agenda item for the Nov. 10 meeting. Commissioner Katschke and Donohue had wanted to discuss the item now.

Ms. White has been an outspoken critic of the deal the County made some months ago with Ashley Hall and Associates.
