Raymond Laird Whipple, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 16, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born Dec. 28, 1937 in Las Vegas, to Jesse and Alta Phoebe Marshall Whipple. On Aug. 31, 1956 he married DeeAnn Snarr in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple.
Raymond grew up in Logandale, Nev. He raised his family in Las Vegas, running a successful concrete business, Laird Whipple Concrete Construction, Inc. He later moved to Panaca where he ranched and farmed for 17 years. He enjoyed being a pilot, hunting with his sons and working hard. He will be remembered for his integrity, love of family and work ethic.
Survivors include his sweetheart of 58 years, DeeAnn of Las Vegas; two sons and one daughter: Laird Jr. (Elizabeth) of Boulder City; Cortney (Carrie) of Las Vegas; Angela (Tony) Branco of Henderson; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. in the Steeplechase LDS Chapel, 6051 Dorrell Lane, Las Vegas, Nevada.
