At the Nov. 15 meeting of the Lincoln County Chapter of Retired Public Employees of Nevada (RPEN), new president James Hill and Treasurer Michael Anderson were sworn in, joining presiding Vice-President Sylvia Pierce and Secretary Millie Fitzsimons in the second of their two-year terms. Senior Judge (and outgoing Treasurer) Sarah K. ?Pete? Getker did the honors for the ceremony.
Many thanks were extended to ?Pete? for the seven years of service she has dedicated to RPEN. Outgoing President Lavette Lee will remain active with the organization, as State Delegate from Lincoln County Chapter. Later in the meeting, Mary Fitzsimons Kerner presented information about the Rural Nevada Development Program?s many opportunities for seniors, including the ?winterization? grant program they offer to low-income senior homeowners.
The RPEN December meeting will be the annual Christmas party, still in planning stages, for Dec. 13 at noon. We hope all members, and those interested in joining, will plan on coming; details will be mailed out soon to all members.
