Both Lincoln and Pahranagat Valley entered the Desert Storm JV wrestling tournament last weekend in St. George, Utah.

Pahranagat coach Brad Loveday said all but one of this varsity wrestlers were either away for the holidays or injured, and the others he entered in the JV tournament. Lincoln County did the same, he said, and entered all their wrestlers in the JV section.
Austin Horrocks (182) took 5th place in the varsity tournament with a 6-2 record to earn 44 points for the team. He won the match by fall over Oscar Celis of Delta High.

In the JV tourney, PVHS had 50 points. David Ingram (138) went 5-2, but did not place. Garrett Bowen (145) was 5-4 and placed 10th, Thayne Solorio (152) was 2-5, Caleb Hansen (170) went 4-4, 17th place, and Chris Thornton (182) was 3-5 and took 16th place.

For Lincoln wrestlers, they scored 162.5 points led by Derrick Mathews (126) who took first place, going 9-0, and winning by major decision over Yani De la calenada of Bishop Gorman.

Zack Rowe (120) was second place. He finished 8-1, and lost in the finals by major decision to Jesus Dalumpinis of Tucson, Arizona.

Jesse Mathews (136) took third place. He was 5-2, pinning Scott Davies of Syracuse High in 1:48.

Jesse McLean (160) placed fourth with a 7-3 record, Frank Barrett (152) placed seventh with a 7-2 record.

Other wrestlers for Lincoln were Ben Culverwell (106), 3-5 for 11th place, Alisha Rowe (113), 2-5 for 19th place, Dylan Midgley (132), 3-5 for 15th place, Nick Bourne (138), 2-5, did not place, Wade Stever (138), 4-2, did not place, William Culverwell (145), 6-2, 17th place, Sam Barfield (160), 4-3, did not place, and A. J. Earnest (170), 0-7, did not place.
