Jamie Hansen of Pahranagat Valley and Alyssa Hanks of Round Mountain shared the co-Most Valuable Players of the Year honor in the Southern Division girls basketball this season

The 5-5 senior Hansen averaged 13.5 points per game in the playoffs including 19 in the state championship helping Pahranagat successfully defend their state title with a 57-49 victory over Smith Valley.

Hanks, a 5-11 freshman averaged 15.7 points and 12.8 rebounds a game for the Knights who earned their first trip to the state tournament since 1999. Round Mountain’s Jake Topholm was named Coach of the Year.

Other Panthers on the girls All-league teams were Kalli Hosier and Madison Harris on First team, with Shayla Leavitt and Alyson Egbert on Second Team.

On the boys side, Wade Leavitt and Tabor Maxwell were named on First Team All League and Culen Highbe on Second Team.

Steve Jones and Maurice Stitt of Spring Mountain were named as co-MVP’s for the boys and Ed Cheltenham deservedly earned Coach of the Year honors, his third such award in his 11-years at the school.
