The 2015 Meadow Valley Wildlife Unlimited Conservation Fundraising Banquet was held at the Caliente Fire Station last Saturday, March 28. More than 500 were in attendance as patrons took in a fabulous meal and an evening full of live and silent auctions, games, raffles and other giveaways. Prizes included firearms, gift certificates, hunting apparel and an assortment of other quality sporting items.
MVWU was established in 2014 as a non-profit conservation organization. Its mission is to conserve wildlife, habitat and the hunting heritage. Funds made at events like the annual banquet will be dedicated to wildlife and habitat conservation and other related efforts here in Lincoln County and Nevada. Examples include fire rehabilitation, vegetative treatments and water development projects.
MVWU feels that it’s critical for folks to be involved in these types of efforts and to see the bigger picture with regard to their natural and cultural resources. All stakeholders, (sportsmen, ranchers, businesses, off-roaders etc.) play a vital role and contribute largely in some fashion to these efforts and the long-term conservation of their beneficial resources here in Nevada.
For more information you can visit their website at www.mvwu.org or catch them on Facebook. Updates will be posted for upcoming events or projects.
MVWU would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to all those who attended the banquet and to those who helped sponsor and donate to make it a successful event, and say, “See you next year.”
