Lacey Steele was a shining star for Lincoln County, being named the All Around Rookie Cowgirl at the Lincoln County High School Rodeo in Panaca on April 25.
The freshman placed second in breakaway roping with a 3.56 and first in team roping with partner Daniel Eary of Spring Creek with a 8.92. She also placed first both days, and won the average buckle, in the girls cutting.
Schools from nineteen areas came out to compete, with 118 high school and 30 junior high contestants rounding out the field. Alamo was represented by Broc Lindburg, Steele and Tyler Bundy. Lincoln was represented by Joy Wadsworth.
Eary won both the All Around Cowboy and All Around Rookie Cowboy buckles for the weekend with placings of fifth in boys cutting, fourth in steer wrestling, and Saturday placings of third in boys cutting, first in team roping, second in steer wrestling and tenth in tie down roping.
All Around Cowgirl of the weekend was Haley Dalton-Estes of Las Vegas. Junior high All Around winners for the weekend were AA Cowboy TJ Griener of Fernley, Rookie Cowboy Daunte Ceresola of Fernley, AA Cowgirl Riata Goemmer of Battle Mountain and Rookie Jayden Jensen of Fallon.
The Lincoln County Rodeo Club would like to thank Robert Steele and John Scott of Alamo for all their help, as well as the many volunteers and sponsors that made this year’s rodeo a great success.
