The USDA is sponsoring a webinar on Thursday, May 28 from 10- 11:30 a.m. at University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Lifelong Learning Center located at 8050 Paradise Road in Las Vegas.
The webinar will discuss the USDA’s Community Food Projects grant program. Community Food Projects are intended to bring together stakeholders from the distinct parts of the food system and to foster understanding of national food security trends and how they might improve local food systems.
The program will be explained as well as examples of successfully funded projects. Additionally, resources and assistance available to organizations interested in applying for the grant will be discussed.
- This webinar is geared towards nonprofits or tribal groups in Nevada who have experience with one of the following:
Community food work, particularly concerning small and medium-size farms, including the provision of food to people in low-income communities and the development of new markets in low-income communities for agricultural producers;
- Job training and business development for food-related activities in low-income communities; or
- Efforts to reduce food insecurity in the community, including food distribution, improving access to services, or coordinating services and programs
