This coming Labor Day weekend celebration in Pioche pays homage to the town’s wild west roots.

In fact, they’re “bringin’ wild back.”

That’s the theme of the 110th annual Labor Day celebration, which kicks off next Friday evening and continues through late Monday morning.

After months of planning, the Labor Day Committee is looking forward to the celebration. “We’re very humbled by the amount of support and kind words of encouragement everyone has given us this year,” said committee co-chair Christy Blood. “We hope everyone joins in on the festivities and has a great time.”

The weekend offers a full schedule of games, tournaments, raffles, crafts, food, live entertainment and a variety of other activities. New events for this year include Sumo wrestling, ATV barrel racing and cornhole. Blood is excited they are able to keep all the old events, especially the night parade and street dance on tap for Saturday and a fireworks display put on by the Pioche Volunteer Fire Department Sunday night.

See a complete schedule of events on page 7. Labor Day programs are available at retailers throughout the county. Schedule and information is also available at, and on the Labor Day Celebration’s Facebook page.

Blood reminds all to “visit our information booth Labor Day weekend to purchase raffle tickets, buttons and shirts.”
