The first meeting of some wonderful women was held in January 2005. There were 10 members originally who agreed there would be no rules or dues and general guidelines were discussed. The members would take turns holding the monthly meetings and it was the decision of the hostess what form the meeting would take. Enjoying their friendships, supporting each other and having a great time together was the primary function.
There are currently 15 members who have enjoyed participating in many varied events – some of which are: Christmas parties at the A Cowboy’s Dream; picnics at the National Wildlife Refuge with the ranger presenting information on the various birds and animals; cowboy poetry readings by some of our local talented people; karaoke; booth at Rachel Days; having a float in Alamo’s July Fourth of July celebration parade; swimming parties; palm reader; book reports; reports and information from a Nevada State Highway Trooper; lunches at the Windmill Ridge and at Carlos’; playing many fun games and cards.

This wonderful group of Red Hat Women has changed our lives in so many ways. In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame again by an encounter with special human beings. We are so thankful for these awesome women who have rekindled our inner spirits. If we had to sum up friendship with one word it would be comfort. We thank God every day that we said “Yes” when asked to join The Red Hats!
As we all mature it is too easy to become somewhat isolated – having constant lively meetings with these fantastic women helps tremendously in maintaining a positive attitude toward whatever comes down our path. Their support and friendship is a continued blessing.
