The Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety awarded the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office $33,500 in federal grant funds to continue the statewide campaign known as “Joining Forces”. This funding will be used to conduct safety enforcement events throughout Lincoln County over the course of the next 11 months.
The various scheduled “Joining Forces” events for federal fiscal year 2015-2016 will focus officers’ efforts on seat belt usage, distracted driving (i.e. – talking/texting with cell phones while driving), speeding, and the dangers of driving under the influence. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office shares the same goal as the other 25 participating Nevada law enforcement agencies of “Zero Fatalities”.
This statewide campaign aims to reduce serious injuries, death, and property damage associated with traffic collisions. Law enforcement agencies will “join forces” during each event to combat traffic safety issues throughout Nevada. By working together, agencies have a greater impact on roadway safety.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will hold their first safety enforcement during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This enforcement will focus on seat belt and child restraint violations. Statistics show, wearing a seat belt doubles motorists chances of surviving a crash.
