Caliente Elementary School recently put on it’s annual Christmas program

The evening started off with a gingerbread house contest. Each grade made a house, and this year the 6th graders’ “Frosty’s Wonderland” was the winning entry. The class received a donation to their room. Their gingerbread creation included exciting rides – a Frosty’s Wheel, a ferris wheel, a candy cane express roller coaster ride and a Rudolph ride.

Following the contest, each grade took turns performing a song. The preschool class started things off with a rendition of “I Want a Hippo for Christmas.” The second graders followed with a performance of “The Song Sock Rock.” Then it was the kindergarteners’ turn with “Let’s Go Skating.” After that, the third grade class sang the classic “Jingle Bells.” The first graders followed with the song “Snow Ball.” The fourth grade class also stuck with a classic – “Up on the Housetop.” The sixth graders performed the “Sleepin on the Floor.” And finishing off the individual grade performances was the fifth grade class with the song “December Nights.”

The final number of the night was given by the school’s chorus group, which sang “Silent Night.” The kids were dressed as manger characters and gave a crowd-pleasing performance.

The gym was packed with parents, relatives and friends to enjoy the evening’s performances as well as hot chocolate and other goodies.
