Bob Ellis was back in Lincoln County to deliver shoes, socks and toys to the Lincoln County schools, and he brought some heavy lifters.
Former mayor of Henderson Jim Gibson, Jim Roberson and Jerry Carnahan joined Ellis on Dec. 3 to help unload the goodies for the kids.
In October Ellis and friends were part of the Lincoln County Community Care Day. He had employees from Payless Shoes with him to measure the students in Lincoln County for tennis shoes. The trio delivered the shoes for all the kids, along with some toys.
The men came down and delivered one pair of shoes for every elementary student in Pioche, Panaca, Caliente and Alamo, as well as Panaca middle schoolers. They left behind 10 extra pair of shoes at each school in case someone was missed or for another child in Lincoln County in general.
The group also delivered one toy per child and a few extras. Most of the schools will be giving the shoes and toys out to the children just before Christmas break.
The trio has been doing this service for over 10 years they have and continue to enjoy every minute of it. Ellis mentioned how fond he is of Lincoln County and the schools here. He said this is one of his favorite trips each year. Gibson, Roberson and Carnahan all stated that the enjoy coming out and giving back to the kids. Gibson is very familiar with Lincoln County because his mother was born in Panaca on Lee Street.
The group’s efforts mean some kids that wouldn’t have much will have a little bit more on Christmas day.
