1937 – 2016
Joyce was born in Heber City, Utah on Feb. 27, 1937, to Dean and Helen Murdock. She passed peacefully on Jan. 23, 2016 in St. George, Utah
She spent her childhood days in Heber, and her youth in Orem, Utah. After she graduated from Orem High School in 1955, with straight A’s, she attended BYU. There she met her future husband, Larry Dotson, at a mat dance. She patiently waited for 2 years while he served an LDS mission. Upon his return, they were married in the Manti Temple in 1958.
Joyce loved to travel and has been to many countries and even lived in France for 2 years in their early marriage. They also lived in California, Utah, spent 17 years in Ashland, Oregon and a year in Tonga before settling in Panaca in 1987.
She had many talents, and always made everything beautiful; she did everything with perfection. She loved to cook, read and others were blessed by her musical talent playing the organ in church for over 60 years. She played the piano and accompanied for choirs, individuals, other churches, special events, and musical productions – more than anyone could count. She freely gave of her gifts!
She was classy all the way and loved nice things. She loved to shop and buy things for her children and grandchildren. She was truly a giver.
She was proceeded in death by her son Randy in 1991 and is survived by her sweetheart Larry, daughters Shana Clanton and Alana Miner, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. at the LDS Church in Panaca, NV. The family will greet friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the viewing prior to the service.
