Lincoln County High School had two individual winners in the 44-team wrestling tournament at Enterprise, Utah last weekend.
Derek Mathews (138) won the title by a judge’s decision of technical fall over Roman Platt of Bryce Valley, and Jesse Mathews (145) pinned David Ingram of Pahranagat Valley.
Will Culverwell (152) of Lincoln took second place, losing by pin in the finals to Keaton Falls of Beaver, Utah.
Ben Culverwell (106) of Lincoln placed third with an 8-4 decision over Dylan Bistline of Kanab.
Salvador Heredia (113) of Pahranagat Valley was fourth place, losing an 8-4 decision to Kadin Jones of Kanab. Sam Barfield (160) of Lincoln was fourth to Koa Afualo of Desert Hills on an 11-4 decision.
Tyler Horrocks (285) of Pahranagat Valley took fourth place with a pin over Braedon Henry of Cedar City, and Oscar Heredia (120) of Pahranagat was fifth place with a pin over Connor Taylor of Snow Canyon. Zach Rowe of Lincoln (126) was fourth by forfeit to Addison Meyer of Dixie.
This weekend will be the Southern Division III league duals Feb. 5-6 at Agassi Prep, and the Southern League championships for seeding to the state tournament, are Feb. 13 at West Wendover. Only the top four in each division advance to the state tournament which will be Feb. 20, and again this year at the Star of the Desert Arena at the Primm Valley Resort.
