Along with the rest of Lincoln County, Alamo celebrated the nation’s birthday in grand fashion on Monday.

In Alamo, the annual observance was under the theme “Aloha America.”

Of the many floats in the parade, that made two trips around the block of the LDS Church and field, the $100 top prize went to the Larry and Sandy Lytle family, $50 second prize to Cowboy’s Dream and $25 third prize to the Foisy family. Mary Stewart was the Grand Marshal.

In the evening, before the fireworks display, in keeping with the Hawaiian theme in Alamo, a group of Hawaiian dancers, Las Vegas Hula, presented a program of authentic native dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, Tokelau and Fiji.

There were also kids games, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, coed volleyball tournament, food and vendor booths, a money spray for the kids and the Mutton busting events, held at the rodeo arena.
