The American Ramp Company set up an all-wheel demo pumptrack at Caliente’s Superpark on July 6 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
“It was a big success”, said city Mayor Stana Hurlburt. “We had close to 60 children from toddlers through high school attend. Well over 100 residents showed up and enjoyed watching the children experience the track. The demo pumptrack group provided a wide variety of music.”
Hurlburt entered Caliente in a contest to participate in the Demo Pumptrack Tour. “I didn’t think they’d come here. I am so glad they did. They actually told us we were one of their best turnouts on their tour. They said our kids are great and healthy.”
Besides providing music, the American Ramp Company taught the children some bike safety tips and provided everyone with a free Demo Pumptrack Tour logo T-shirt.
The City of Caliente received a grant from the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act for a permanent pumptrack among other cycling attractions. “We are in the final stages of receiving the funds. We are looking forward to adding three more miles of mountain bike trails, jumplines, a skill track, a toddler track and our very own pumptrack by this time next year,” said Hurlburt.
