Lincoln County will soon be sending out requests for proposal for solid waste hauling in the county.

Planning and building director Cory Lytle said he has been working on a scope of work plan to present to the county commission at the Sept. 19 meeting. ?Basically, the specific tasks and content of which we are going to contract. I would have to have the RFR out and actual bidding by mid-November.?

In the meantime, at the commission meeting Sept. 6, Marcia Hurd, of Star Valley, acting on behalf of VanNata Worldwide/Pegasus Energy Inc., and Vortex Power, Inc. presented a proposed service plan to commissioners whereby the company said, ?We believe that we can offer a significant portion of the solution to the municipal solid waste situation that has occurred in Lincoln County.?

In addition, the company stated, ??the amount of municipal solid waste being transported to a designated landfill would be reduced by the completion and operation of the ThermoMAX3 plant and sorting facilities. More efficient collection and eco-friendly disposal plans can be developed for the long-term benefit of the county and the environment.?

Commissioners were presented with an eight-part service plan for consideration, but did not take any action.

Worldwide also noted it would like to create a waste-to-energy benefit for the county with intentions of obtaining a special district in association with the conversion process.
