1 – Lincoln County High School’s girls cross country team will compete at state tomorrow in North Las Vegas.

The Lincoln County High School cross country team competed in the 1A-2A Regional Championships in North Las Vegas last Friday.

The entire girls team will compete at the NIAA 1A-2A State Championships tomorrow at Craig Ranch Park in North Las Vegas.

Two members of the boys team individually qualified for state – Cody Dirks and Ben Culverwell.

Dirks had the fifth fastest time out of 44 runners. He finished the 5,000-meter run in 17 minutes 34.4 seconds. Culverwell finished ninth with a time of 18:50.0.

For the girls, Shayla Mathews was fourth overall out of 28 competitors. She finished in 24:13.7. Amy Thomas was also in the top ten, finishing seventh, with a time of 24:30.4.

Tomorrow’s races begin with the boys at 10 a.m. The girls race is at 12:05 p.m.
