On Nov. 8 and 9, the Lincoln County High School show choir took to the stage at the Lincoln County Auditorium and performed to two sold out crowds.
The entertainment for the evening consisted of a series of renditions of classic songs from the 60s, like ?Blue Skies? by Ella Fitzgerald and ?I Can?t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)? by the The Four Tops, provided by the talented show choir members and directed by Jacob Lester.
The performances were headed by the show choir seniors Nathanael Frehner, Emily Rowe and Haylee Zierow, with their renditions of songs like ?Wild Things? by English rock band The Troggs, ?Under the Boardwalk? by blues group the Drifters and ?The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin? Groovy)? by the folk music duo Simon and Garfunkel.
Frehner gave an entertaining rendition of The Troggs? ?Wild Things?, with an animated version of the song and an energetic attitude. Frehner thrilled the audience with lively dance moves and cheerful character.
Rowe and Zierow were also performers who had the audience in stitches with their rendition of ?I Can?t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch),? originally recorded by the The Four Tops, that was reminiscent of the decade of the 60s.
Other show choir members, like junior Shayla Mathews, remarked that ?[they] considered the show a big hit and the whole performance was a blast.?
Even though they were concerned about losing a significant amount of members with the leaving of last year?s seniors and performing with a ?completely new cast?, the evening was a success.
Congratulations to the show choir team for two successful sold out shows and a spectacular showing of what the show choir has to offer this year. We?re looking forward to their next performance this spring.
