After deliberating about two hours, a jury returned a verdict of not guilty in the trial of Cameron Holaday of Alamo.

He had been charged with driving under the influence of SPICE, also known as Synthetic Marijuana after he was involved on Feb. 17, 2015 in a collision with a southbound 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck south of Alamo on U.S. 93 that resulted in the death of 40-year old Christy Kelly.

Defense attorney Dylan Frehner said after all the evidence was presented, the jury determined the prosecution could not prove that Holaday was under the influence. However, he is still serving a sentence at the High Desert Prison near Indian Springs on another charge, but Frehner did not say what that charge was, nor when that sentence would end.

The trial lasted Tuesday through Thursday with the state presenting seven witnesses before 7th Judicial Court Judge Gary Fairman at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Pioche. Holaday was the only witness for the defense and did testify in his behalf.
