At the latest Caliente City Council meeting, interest in purchase or leasing the Caliente Old Firehouse was presented by Anna Perkins and Mikaela Powers. Dylan Frehner will look into what steps need to be taken.
Approval for Best in the Desert NV “200” was approved. This will take place March 31, April 1 and 2.
A temporary liquor license was approved for the Meadow Valley Wilderness Unlimited annual banquet on March 18 at the Caliente Fire Station.
Kelli Haluzak and Ashley Weideman will be taking Aquatic Risk Management classes in Reno on April 20 in Reno. This is a free class.
Proclamation for the city election was read and will be published. Election will be held June 13, 2017, for mayor, four-year term and one councilman, also four-year term. Those interested can file at City Hall between April 4 and no later than 5 p.m. on April 14. There is a $25 filing fee.
Two bids were received for Locust/Tennille Street project. Both qualified companies. Pearson Brothers Construction and Pearsons & Sons Construction sent in bids. Pearson & Sons Construction was awarded the bid for $36,999. They will be sent a notice to proceed with bonding, insurance and to reply within ten days.
Notices to hire summer help is out for lifeguards and maintenance.
Haluzak said they have received calls about the water concerns under the bridge going down Rainbow Canyon. They were told to contact the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Also, the Depot has available rooms for rent.
Planning meeting is set for March 30 at 6 p.m.
Budget meeting is slated for April 7 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
