The hospital held its monthly board meeting last Tuesday.
The CEO contract for Jason Bleak was on the agenda for approval. Bleak requested that the board give him the same raise as other employees are getting and not follow his contract. He asked the same last year. The board approved this.
The board discussed changing the dates of the meeting due to schedule conflicts and it being easier for the board to have paperwork prepared. The date for the next meeting will be the third week in September on the 19th, and then it will go to the second week in October on the 10th. The bylaws will be changed so that meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm. These are open meetings.
Dr. William Katschke gave a report on two new students that will be here, one from UNR will be here for two weeks and another started Wednesday. In September, there will be another for four months, followed by more in January, February and March.
For the clinic, they are trying to improve scheduling.
Katschke and Bleak will go to Bisbee, Arizona to learn about telehealth, where doctors can get hold of specialists online and get feedback, saying this may be the way of the future.
The Health Fair will be Sept. 16 from 8 to 11 a.m. in Caliente and will feature a kids corner.
