The Lincoln County High School varsity volleyball team roster has been finalized. This year’s team has a lot of juniors that are new to varsity. The Lady Lynx have three returning seniors: Kailey Kelley, Brooklyn Hafen, and Sadie Teel. The juniors on the team are Kendra Mathews, KyLee Cameron, Baylee Cameron, Keely Jackson, Brianna Brobst, Amy Gloeckner, and Marinda Lamb. As of right now, the team has three middle hitters, three outside hitters, two setters, and two liberos.
Coach Chantel Holt said last week’s scrimmage went really well. She said, “We just had White Pine show up, but we were able to get a lot of good practice and work on a lot of different rotations.”
The team is still changing around positions and rotations, seeing what combinations of players work best together and will be the most successful. Holt also said, “We stayed really aggressive and did a good job of getting after the ball, trying to keep it in play, and trying to make every contact count.”
Holt has mentioned that White Pine is always a pretty good team and has quite a few decent hitters and so far this season, the Lady Lynx have done a pretty good job combating that. Since the girls only have had one full week of practice so far, they still have many things to work on, go over, and get better at.
Holt said, “We need to work on picking a starting rotation and just ironing out the details of positions and how we want to set up our defense this year.” Once, as Holt said, they ‘iron out all the details,’ the team is looking like they are hopefully going to have a very promising and successful season.
The team is at the White Pine Tournament today and tomorrow.
