After several years of being dormant, the Creative Artists of Lincoln County have re-formed and are on a new mission.
On Thursday, January 11, the newly formed CALC Board had a very exciting day.
First, the group had the signing of its new lease with the City of Caliente and received keys to its new art room, located inside the 1923 Caliente Depot. Next they had a small ribbon-cutting ceremony with Caliente mayor Tommy Rowe.
After the ceremony (CALC) President Cara Lee Frehner and her husband, City Attorney Dylan Frehner, were the first to glide across the ballroom floor, getting in a little practice for their first annual fundraiser, the Winter Ball!
“We love this room,” said Cara Lee Frehner, “The Creative Artists of Lincoln County (CALC) are more than 55 years old; we are so proud to carry on this legacy of art for the county. We look forward to hosting our first annual Winter Ball and creating classes, holding artists receptions, lectures, and so much more.”
Executive Director of the CALC Dana Lee Fruend said, “We are so grateful to Mayor Rowe and the city council for making this possible. We appreciate their heartfelt support of the CALC. We have a great plan for our county in working to create and promote a new arts program, events, and activities. We will be building our membership, developing partnerships and writing grants to help us grow the arts and all its forms throughout Lincoln County.”
Tickets for the Jan. 20 Winter Ball can be purchased for $20 individual or $30 couple. Dancing, musical guests, dance instruction, gourmet appetizers, pictures, and an art raffle will fill the night with memorable fun.
All proceeds will benefit the Creative Artists of Lincoln County, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit. For more information, contact: Dana Lee Fruend 775.230.2232
