It was a successful weekend for Lincoln County High School’s wrestling team.

They competed in regionals in Laughlin on Feb. 3rd and each one of the 5 wrestlers on the team are going to the state championship. Freshman Ayden Miller placed 4th in his weight class. Another freshman, Austin Marshall placed 3rd. Junior Kyle Zierow placed 4th in his class. Senior Ben Culverwell placed first, but had to fight for his place against his teammate, freshman Jordan Free. They started on opposite sides of the bracket, winning all their matches, and battling it out to be the champion. Culverwell came out on top and Free got second place.

Coach Steve Culverwell said, “Last weekend went just as it was supposed to. Except Jordan Free, he did really quite well. This week we’ll have a couple of days of good practice and Thursday night we’ll head to state in Las Vegas. It’s pretty exciting, I’ve never had a team where all my wrestlers have made it to state.”

Friday, the team will wrestle at the Orlean’s Arena for the state championship.
