On Wednesday morning, the citizens of Panaca awoke to a strange sight on Main Street. A variety of police vehicles from both Nevada and Utah were gathered on the corner of Main Street and 5th behind a black Chevy truck.
The truck and it’s two male occupants had come from Utah, and according to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy, were arrested under the suspicion of having stolen fuel in Modena.
An unnamed Modena resident had noticed the two men as they were parked near his gas tank, according to police, and had notified the authorities of the suspicious behavior. They were summarily pulled over in Panaca, and once they were identified as the same men that had been reported in Utah, they were arrested.
The truck had a gas tank in the bed.
