On Nov. 10, starting at 11 a.m., VFW Post 7114 in Caliente will be having a bike-decorating contest along with the annual Freedom Festival. There will be two groups: preschool through second grade and third through sixth grade. All participants are required to wear a helmet and follow bike safety rules. The bikes must be decorated using red, white, and blue decorations. Flags are acceptable. One to ten poppies must be included; the auxiliary will provide the poppies. All entrants will receive a gift and there will be certificates for first, second and third place.

The contest judges will be Kerry Lee, Bart Anderson, and Victor Jones.

The bike parade will take place across the street from the VFW on the sidewalk for all to see and enjoy. Entrants will line up at 11 a.m. for the judging.

For further information, call Sharon Wimsatt at (702) 400-3803.

Lunch will be available at the festival, as well as raffles, games and crafts for the kids.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., there will be a ceremony at the VFW Cemetery. A pot luck will follow at the VFW Hall. All are welcome.
