Sgt. Chase Dirks takes an order during the Tip-a-Cop event at the Knotty Pine on Friday.

The highway in front of the Knotty Pine Restaurant was lined with cars, as were with the post office parking lot and the side streets.

Inside, Lincoln County sheriff officers seated customers, took orders, and visited with people waiting to be seated as the Knotty Pine Restaurant hosted the annual Tip-a-Cop fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 16. All tips and donations went to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) “Shop With a Cop” program.

From 5-8 p.m., the restaurant hustled to keep up with orders, with four cooks in the kitchen and Sheriff Kerry Lee, his deputies, and dispatchers working the floors. There was a steady stream of people waiting to eat Knotty’s famous BBQ ribs.

By 8:30 p.m., the working crew was finally able to sit down and eat.

Wendy Kirchesh said they had their best year yet, serving close to 280 people with 198 ribs, plus a lot of steak dinners.

Don’t forget, you can do this again Nov. 30 at the Side Track.
