Jerome Howard Baslington (Jerry) was born December 17, 1936. He grew up in Oregon during World War II. He married Kay Piper, his childhood sweetheart, shortly after they graduated from Newberg High School in 1955. They had a baby daughter, Lynne, who was born in 1956.
He went into the Navy straight out of high school. After leaving the Navy, he went to Alaska for a logging job which fell through so he took a job in mining. This became his career for the next 40 years. He moved often and worked in states like NV, ID, CA, TN, MT, and AL. He married Dorris Schofield on November 11, 1982. He continued working as a miner until he moved to the Hiko ranch in 1998 where he worked at R-Place for about three years. He was sealed to his wife in the Las Vegas Temple on March 7, 1998.
His wife Dorris died on July 30, 2003. He passed away at his home in Hiko on December 13, 2018. He is survived by his sister Helen Grace, his daughter Lynne Bridges, sons Merle and Reed Dodd, daughter Jerri Hammons, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
