Higbee elected Commission Board chair

The Lincoln County Commission Board elected Varlin Higbee as the new chairman of the board. He will serve a two-year term. Long involved in local government affairs, Higbee began on the board in 2015. He also served as a member of the Planning Commission from 1984 until he took a seat as county commissioner.

The county commission approved appointments to various boards at Monday’s meeting.

Alamo Town Board: Vern Holaday, Lola Sharp, Lonny Walch

Panaca Town Board: Andy Free, Gary Elmer, Mike Anderson

Pioche Town Board: Glenn Zelch, Cameron Boyce, Tom Brown

Library Board: Richard Sidford, Henry Frehner

Flood Control Board: Kevin Phillips

Game Management Board: John Tibbetts, Dane Bradfield

Debt Management Commission: Glenn Zelch, Varlin Higbee, Kevin Phillips

Fair and Recreation Board: Jared Brackenbury, Pete Peterson

RTC Board: Varlin Higbee

Race dates approved

Dates for the Silver State Challenge and involving the closure of SR 318 were approved for May 18 and Sept. 15.

Flycatcher Mitigation Plan extended

Commissioners approved a request for additional time from Resource Concepts of Reno for Phase 2 of the Southwest Willow Flycatcher Mitigation Plan to extend through to June 20.
